Malta. Comino Island

The state of Malta, as a political entity, encompasses the entire Maltese archipelago... Alongside the main island, named Malta, where the capital Valletta is located, there are several other islands that belong to the state... The largest of these are Gozo and Comino... From the ferry terminal at Ċirkewwa, you can reach each of these islands from Malta...
  Map of visited places...
On the island of Comino, there are only 4 registered permanent residents... This island is situated between the densely populated islands of Malta and Gozo. Due to the beauty of its bays, Comino is one of the main tourist destinations... You can reach the island by motorboat, the ticket price for one way is 7 euros, but if you buy a return ticket within the same day, the price is 13 euros. The island has a free campsite, but you need to bring your own water as there are no sources on the island...
Comino is home to the so-called Blue Lagoon... Almost each island we visited has its own Blue Lagoon, so the Maltese archipelago is no exception...
However, the most beautiful spots on Comino are not the Blue Lagoon but the picturesque bays located a bit further... Interestingly, most tourists don't venture to these bays, choosing instead to swim in the Blue Lagoon...

Climbing a rocky promontory that offers views of the lagoon, we had breakfast with traditional Maltese pastries - pastizzi (flaky pastries filled with ricotta cheese)...
Large ferries travel between Malta and Gozo, which are easily visible from Comino...

Using a drone, we captured how the island looks from above...

Walking along the rocky coastline and climbing its promontories, we saw the island's beauty from various angles...

In one of the bays, we stopped to swim and jump off the cliffs into the water...

On the way back, we stopped to swim in the Blue Lagoon...

Initially, we planned to stay overnight on the island, as we had all the necessary equipment... However, the poor weather forecast for the next day, predicting heavy rain and strong winds, forced us to change our plans... In such weather, it might be impossible to leave Comino as boats do not operate in bad weather... So, we returned to the island of Malta that evening...
We stayed overnight in a hotel in the town of St. Paul’s Bay, and the next day, as forecasted, a heavy downpour began... We were very glad we didn't stay at the campsite on Comino...
By midday, the rain subsided a bit, and we decided to leave our room and take a bus to Mdina, but after traveling a few kilometers, we got caught in a major traffic jam... It turned out that most roads were flooded due to the abnormally heavy rain, and the roads were closed...

Assessing the situation, we got off the bus and returned to our town of St. Paul’s Bay... The weather in the bay improved and the sun came out... It was still better to walk around the town than be stuck in a bus in traffic...

Views of the hotel complexes in the bay where we spent three nights...
Returning to our room, there was no trace of the bad weather... But getting out of our town that day was extremely difficult due to the flooded roads... However, from the balcony of our room, we had a beautiful view of the palm trees...
The next day, we headed to the island of Gozo, where we planned to stay for two to three days...
