Norway. Bergen
Bergen was the central city of our week-long trip around Norway... We spent three nights and two full days there. The city is remembered for its fantastically beautiful harbor with colorful houses and its location on the fjord amidst the mountains...
The main plan of our journey was to hike the mountain route in the area of the famous "Troll's Tongue", visit Norway's longest fjord, Sognefjord, and sail its waters, as well as see Norway's most beautiful city, Bergen, which was the country's capital for a long time in ancient times...
Map of the journey:
Arriving in Bergen late in the evening and settling in a hostel near the center, we went out to explore the city. Even though it was almost midnight, there was still plenty of light on the streets... A very cool feature of northern cities in the summer...
We could easily walk through the old streets, which are crowded with tourists during the day...
However, we did see one group of tourists... Apparently, some tour operators also take advantage of the "white nights"... Where else would you see a full-fledged sightseeing tour in the middle of the night...
But Bergen is magical at night...
The next morning, we decided to climb the nearest mountain to get a view of the city from above...
It was interesting to see such a house on the mountain... With an entrance like a burrow and a fantastic view of the city...
The house was designed by local architects and built to attract families with children to get closer to nature. By applying to the local municipality, you can get the keys for free on specified dates for an overnight stay in it...
The surrounding area is generally designed for educational purposes for children... There is also an equipped goat pen...
And from the observation deck, you can see a wonderful panorama of Norway's second-largest city, situated on the fjord...
It's also nice to see support for Ukraine everywhere...
A funicular runs from the city center to the observation deck...
Various mountain routes start from the observation deck... Essentially, you can easily not stay in the city but set up a tent higher in the mountains...
After a short walk along one of the routes, we stopped for a snack by a lake...
Then we headed along mossy paths back to the city center...
The day was a bit cloudy, but the colorful houses made it much brighter...
The main part of the city is the waterfront with colorful wooden houses...

The most interesting thing is that between them are authentic alleys that transport you to another era...
The harbor itself is very picturesque...
The churches are quite austere and fit the city's atmosphere perfectly...
In Bergen, we spent the first day after arrival and the last day before flying home... On the last day, we also spent most of the time in the harbor area, where all the city's beauty is concentrated...
The best view of the harbor houses is from the ferry dock...
In the local supermarket, we found Icelandic thick yogurt - Skyr, which we loved during our trip to Iceland... So we didn't miss the opportunity to enjoy it on the shore of the bay...
