Thailand. Phuket Island

Returning from our tour of the Phi Phi Islands, we spent another four days on Phuket. There are many interesting places and beautiful beaches here as well. We visited the picturesque Freedom Beach and Kata Noi Beach, strolled through Phuket City, visited the Wat Chalong Temple, and hiked up the jungle trail to the Big Buddha monument on Nak Kerd Hill...
We stayed in a guesthouse on Karon Beach and went somewhere every day. Karon Beach itself is also very beautiful, but we spent more time in other places that were even more beautiful.
 Kata Noi Beach…

On Kata Noi Beach, we celebrated birthday of my wife with coconut milk…
The next day, we hitchhiked to Karon Hill and took a trail through the jungle to the wild Freedom Beach…

Usually, people are transported here by boat, as getting there from the mainland is not so easy…

In the afternoon, we left the beach and walked to the nearby, more accessible Patong Beach. Here we took a local transport called Songthaew, which took us to the city...
Songthaew translates from Thai as "two benches" and is a passenger vehicle…
In our Songthaew, there was even a bench in the middle... Super modified :)

In almost an hour, with a breeze, we reached Phuket City. The first thing we did was have lunch at a Thai family café-dining room, I don't even know how to call this type of place properly… On the first floor, they serve visitors, and on the second floor, they live as a family. The surroundings are such that it feels like you’ve come to their home… Definitely not a tourist place, but the hostess still managed to explain everything in English…

After lunch, we went for a walk around the city…

The architecture is very interesting and unusual…

We also visited a small Chinese temple here… Unlike Bangkok, where photographing in Chinese temples was prohibited, here we were able to take a picture...
And how could we not drink cold coconut milk…

The next day, early in the morning, before the sun started to burn, we went for a short hike up Nak Kerd Hill, where the Big Buddha monument is located. It was very close from our guesthouse to the trail leading up the hill…
Leaving the village, we turned at the signpost and then followed the trail through the jungle...

   A small elephant farm...
From the hill, there are views of Karon Beach…

At the very top - the Big Buddha...

  Panorama from the hill...
Descending around 11:00, the jungle was already quite steamy... Returning to our room and changing, we went to the beach to cool off with naturally made ice cream... It was made super simply… First, a Thai mixed milk with the fruit of your choice, which he peeled and sliced right in front of you… Then, he poured the mixture onto a freezing surface, which almost immediately turned into a frosty mass. Using two spatulas, he kneaded it for about half a minute, then spread the now elastic mass into a rectangle and rolled it into tubes with the spatula...

During the day, it was very hot on the beach, so we took a Songthaew and went to the most famous temple in Phuket - Wat Chalong...
Although we had already visited quite a few Thai temples, Wat Chalong stood out among them...

We had two more nights in Phuket before flying back to Bangkok, so we dedicated the rest of our time to the sea… The trip to Phuket further enriched our little adventure, and there were still unrealized points in our program, especially the incredibly interesting Thai markets…
