Extreme Endurance Race 2017

  This year's ski touring competition - Extreme Endurance Race 2017 - took place in a positive and communicative atmosphere. Two sunny and cloudless days gave us beautiful views and comfortable temperatures. Meeting with other participants, with whom we share a common passion, contributed to warm and heartfelt communication. Thanks to the initiative of the enthusiastic organizers, we plunged into the atmosphere of a friendly race against the clock, combining it with elements of communication and good humor. The competition consisted of three diverse stages, successful completion of which required participants to have not only high endurance on ascents and technique on descents but also the ability to quickly and efficiently handle the equipment.  Registration for the competition and communication with participants took place in the restaurant of the hotel complex "True Fairy Tale" in the village of Podobovets...

On the first day of the ski touring competition, there were two individual stages - the "Vertical Race" and the "Sprint". In the "Vertical Race" stage, it was necessary to climb the mountain, overcoming an altitude difference of 800 m. Start of the Vertical Race:

 The second stage, the "Sprint," involved dynamically covering a course with an altitude difference of 100 m and included qualification, semi-finals, and finals. Groups of 3-4 people raced down a specified section, put on ski skins, and then quickly ascended. The most skilled participants advanced to the finals, where the top places were contested...

   The second day featured the "Team Race," which we were looking forward to the most. The stage was about 20 km long with an altitude difference of nearly 2000 m. Our GPS track of the race...

 Teams consisted of two participants. Our team was called "Ushlopky" (Dmytro Zhmil, Viktor Sviridenko)...

 Throughout the entire course, the "Chuhaystry" team (Serhiy Sapiga, Vitaliy Bidyuk) dominated. Only at the very end did we manage to catch up with them and finish first... In the general list, I secured third place overall...

  Sincere thanks to the organizers - Oleksandr Olivson, Oleksiy Prokopenko, and their entire team, thanks to whom we spent two very interesting days in the competition. We felt the thrill of extreme descents, trained our lungs on the ascents, met friends and shared memories, and made new acquaintances.
