Baltic Marathons 2023-2024

Over the year, I ran four marathons in Baltic cities... Two in Kaunas and one each in Vilnius and Riga. In fact, my first official marathon was a little over a year ago in Kaunas, and since then, I've completed four in total. Earlier, I ran many ultramarathon distances, and for some reason, the classic marathon didn't seem interesting to me. But my opinion changed drastically after my first race, which I ran thanks to my company, Biomapas, where I work... The company paid for participation, ordered T-shirts with the corporate logo for all employees taking part in the race, and provided snack packs and treats.
The atmosphere I experienced during that first race resonated with me so much that I ran the subsequent marathons in Vilnius and Riga on my own. However, the marathon in my hometown of Kaunas was the first and will always remain special to me.

In 2023, I ran the first Kaunas marathon in 3:22...
  Our cool multinational team Biomapas...

My second marathon was in Vilnius, which took place in early autumn 2023, four months after Kaunas. The capital marathon was much better organized, with an incredibly beautiful route that wound through the streets of the old city, parks, and picturesque paths along the river. I completed the Vilnius marathon in 3 hours and 12 minutes...

I ran my third marathon, the traditional Kaunas run, in 2024, where once again I represented my company, Biomapas...

This time, I didn't improve my marathon time, finishing in 3:13. However, the main highlight this time was my wife participating in the half marathon, so our family collection added another medal. It was her first half marathon experience...

Three weeks later, we were already in Riga... Here we decided to take part in the largest marathon among the Baltic countries - the Riga Marathon... Arriving on Saturday afternoon, we picked up our race packets with numbers and after checking into the hostel, we went for a walk around the city...
In the morning of the next day, we headed to the starting line... Another moment that I particularly enjoy is the early gathering of runners at the start... Walking through the city towards the main square where we were supposed to start, you encounter numerous runners converging from all directions towards the main event of the day...
And so the start... I'm in the first group of fast runners, and my wife Diana is a bit behind...
Altogether, around seven thousand runners participated, among them approximately two thousand ran the marathon, and about five thousand ran the half marathon...

At the finish line, each finisher received a designer medal...
We received ours... This time I was able to improve my time, finishing in 3:11... But most importantly, I ran for enjoyment, staying true to my main principle - finishing with ease and a smile...
The design of the medal was quite interesting and symbolized the course we conquered...
And our sporting adventure with marathons has only just begun...
