Bolivia. Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world, covering an area of 10,582 km², and is also the bed of a dried-up lake. It is located in the Andes in the south of Bolivia, at an altitude of 3,650 meters... To visit this natural area, we booked a three-day jeep tour with a local tourist company...
Arriving early in the morning in the town of Uyuni, we were met by representatives of the tour company and taken to a café where we could use the restroom and have breakfast... The tour started at 10 a.m., so we had plenty of time... We didn’t book the tour in advance; we just arranged it via WhatsApp with a representative of the tour company, so we paid for the tour on the spot... The three-day jeep tour of the natural areas cost $130. We left one backpack in the storage room and set off on the tour around 11:00. The first stop was the train cemetery in the desert...

There were also installations of famous characters from the movies Transformers, Predator, Terminator, and Alien...

After a short drive, we arrived at the salt flat...
Here, numerous flags of different countries are displayed...
In 2016, one of the stages of the Paris-Dakar rally took place on the salt flat...
We had lunch in a dining hall made of salt; they set the table for us and called us when everything was ready...
After lunch, we went for a walk on the salt flat...

The main minerals that make up the surface of the salt flat are gypsum and halite. The salt flat has an incredibly flat surface, which is perfect for perspective photography games...

Next, we drove further into the salt flat and stopped for about an hour and a half to take photos and enjoy the unusual landscapes...

Part of our group played frisbee...
And we were choosing new perspectives for photos...

Then we got back into the jeeps and continued our journey...
The next stop was at the island with cacti - Isla Incahuasi, which translates from Quechua as "House of the Incas". It is a hilly and rocky island located right in the center of Salar de Uyuni, at an altitude of 3,656 meters...
Дуже мальовниче місце по якому ми мали змогу вдосталь погуляти, пройшовши коловим маршрутом...

After visiting the cactus island, we drove away from the other tourist groups to witness the sunset...

Our guide took a great photo of our whole group at sunset...
We arrived for the night around eight in the evening, thus ending the first day of the tour and our visit to the world's largest salt flat...
