Norway. Sognefjord
On the shores of Norway's longest fjord, Sognefjord, we spent two days, staying overnight in a cozy mountain cabin with a fantastic panoramic view, near the village of Aurland... After hiking along the picturesque route by the shore to the port of the village of Flåm, we took a boat to Bergen, covering over 200 kilometers through the sea channels...
Route map:
Arriving from Tyssedal to the town of Aurland at noon, we immediately headed up to a free mountain cabin with a panoramic view of the fjord, which had been pre-selected as our rest and overnight spot...
Inside, you are only allowed to stay during the day, and overnighting is prohibited, although the cabin is not locked, and no one monitors this... Everything is based on the "honor system," and we adhered to the rules...
It is very clean and cozy here, with many children's books, lighting that switches on and off with an automatic sensor, and power supplied by a solar panel on the roof. There are also two USB ports for charging phones... We brought our own water, filling up in the village...
And the views outside the window are simply fantastic... After lunch, Diana stayed in the cabin while I went for a run in the surrounding area... Above the cabin, a little higher up in the mountains, is the most famous observation deck in the region - Stegastein...
From there, the view is like this... Then my route went through a beautiful valley...
And finally, I reached a very steep waterfall - Fossadrevet...Arriving back in the village, I refilled our water and headed up to "our cabin" in the mountains...
On the cabin's terrace, we cooked dinner and made tea... Enjoying the evening colors of the fjord...
In the evening, paragliders began descending from the opposite mountain, which looked very spectacular...
We spent the night on the terrace with a fantastic view of the fjord...
The sunset was also very beautiful...
Reaching the seawater, we stopped for an hour at a local beach to swim a bit in the cold waters of the fjord, which stretches all the way to the North Sea...
After the beach, we visited a small church in the village, located next to a cemetery...
The churches here are not as pompous as those of Catholics and Orthodox, making them more cozy...
After the church, we continued along the fjord to the village of Flåm...
Getting closer to the village, we saw giant cruise ships, which, thanks to the deep water of the fjord, can reach its very end...
In the village of Flåm, we walked around a bit, and at 3:45 PM, we sailed towards Bergen...
Our small adventure ended with a journey through Norway's longest fjord, Sognefjord...
Settling on the deck, we watched the surrounding landscapes... The mountains seemed to wrap around the fjord...
The boat made a special approach to one of the largest waterfalls on our route...
This boat operates daily, departing from Bergen to Flåm in the morning and returning back to Bergen in the afternoon. The one-way trip covers over 200 kilometers, taking five and a half hours...
The boat stops at ports of small villages along the way, allowing us to see the picturesque houses of various ports...
And in general, beautiful panoramas open up from the boat...
We arrived in Bergen at half-past eight in the evening, the weather had worsened dramatically, and it was pouring rain... Thus ended our cruise through Norway's longest fjord, and our main summer adventure came to an end...
