Lithuania. Dzūkija National Park
In the early days of October, we visited the Dzūkija National Park. The main goal was to raft down the Ula River, which runs entirely through the park. Our route was 45 kilometers, which we covered in two days...
Map of the route...
After parking the car near the village of Rudnia and inflating the kayak, we started rafting down the Ula River...
The river has many bends and obstacles in the form of fallen trees, but there is always a way to pass. It is evident that this route is maintained and "cleaned" since kayaking is very popular in Lithuania...
Along the route, there are special places for picnicking or camping for "water tourists," marked with special poles that are clearly visible from the water...
We stopped in a large clearing at a place called Mančiagirės stovyklavietė. There was a toilet nearby, and in the clearing itself, there were several gazebos, fire pits, and many places for tents...
On the first day, we covered 25 kilometers, after which Dianka stayed to rest, and I ran along forest trails to get the car by the shortest route, which was 16.5 kilometers and made a great addition to the day... From the water, the beauty of autumn is not as noticeable as in the forest... Returning with the car to the campsite, I did not drive into the clearing itself due to blockages and potholes on the dirt road. Instead, I drove as close as possible, and the next morning, before departing, I parked the car on the side of the paved road...
The second day awaited us with the most beautiful part of the route...
The river literally passed by the forest, winding among tall pines...
We finished the route by reaching the village of Madrasavas, located on the banks of the Merkys River, into which the Ula flows... Following the already established routine, my wife stayed with the kayak by the river, and I ran along the trails to get the car....
