Lithuania. Asvejos Regional Park

On sunny weekends at the beginning of September, we went to the Asvejos Regional Park to kayak the planned route along Lake Asvejos and the Dubinga River...
 Map of the route...
Reaching the free resting place - Be kepurių Stovyklavietė, we inflated the kayak, gathered the necessary items, and set off to explore the expanse of the previously unseen lake...

The lake has an elongated shape, and sometimes we had to paddle through narrow passages past reeds and lily leaves, as well as under small bridges...

On the first day, we paddled over 22 kilometers... Returning to the resting place, we built a fire, had dinner, and after sunset, went to sleep...
The next morning, after packing up the tent and all the gear into the car, we set off on a different route, which led from Lake Asvejos to the Dubinga River...
Paddling out of the lake through a narrow channel surrounded by reeds, we gradually progressed to the river's mouth...
When choosing kayaking routes, I try to find the most natural places to stay away from developments... So that only nature is visible on the horizon...

The water in these places is extremely clear, with underwater vegetation visible all the way to the bottom...

In some places along the river, there are backwaters covered with lily leaves...

In some areas, we had to pass through reeds due to shallow water...
Emerging from the more "wild" part of the river's mouth - its actual beginning, we reached a more "ordinary" looking river...

Part of the route passed by the forest...

Due to numerous blockages, we often had to carry the kayak over fallen tree trunks, which sometimes completely blocked the river...

But the reward was the beauty of the area...
Reaching the bridge near the village of Kabakėlis, we completed our route along the Dubinga River. We pulled the kayak ashore just beyond the bridge, having paddled almost 14 km... This segment took longer than usual due to forest blockages. My wife stayed with the kayak on the riverbank, while I ran along forest trails to our resting place where we had left the car. Due to the fortunate bend of the river, I only had to run 8 kilometers. Reaching the car, I drove back to pick up wife and the kayak...
