Spain. Girona
The city that surprised me, where I spent just half a day before flying home from the local airport... Medieval streets, colorful houses along the canal, and a fortress wall with narrow paths for observing the city's panoramas against the backdrop of the Pyrenees...
I reached Girona from Barcelona by bus (15 euros) in an hour and a half from the northern bus station. The colorful houses along the canal, one of Girona's landmarks, I crossed countless times from one bank to the other, over various little bridges, admiring the views of the whimsical buildings and cathedrals towering above them...
The cathedral area, by unwritten rules, is located on the city's hills... The cathedrals impress with their scale...
A surprise for me was the opportunity to walk along the fortress wall, from which I could enjoy panoramas of the old city against the mountain backdrop...
Descending from the fortress wall, I strolled a bit through the city's low-lying medieval streets...
At sunset, I climbed back up to one of the wall's viewpoints that I had scouted earlier in the day. I spent almost an hour here, watching the sun set behind the Pyrenees... This is how the next day will begin, leaving this moment beyond my strange perception...
Evening Girona...
At 11:00 PM, I was already at the bus station, from where I took a bus to the airport... Thus ended the 25th and last day of my journey...
