Lithuania. Sventoji

The wavy Baltic Sea, sandy dunes, pine forests along the coast, and a sea of positive emotions - all of this we fully experienced during our stay in the resort village of Šventoji, which administratively is part of the city of Palanga and is located right on the border with Latvia...
We spent our vacation at the sea with Dianа's Aunt , who organized a magical stay for us. The cottage we stayed in was incredible...
The cottages were situated right next to an inlet formed by the Šventoji River, whose name translates from Lithuanian and Latvian as "sacred ''...

The peaceful spirit of our surroundings was enhanced by ducks, swans, and a stork...

Manicured lawns, benches along the inlet, lampposts that lit up in the evenings creating a very romantic atmosphere, and a distance from noisy streets - everything here was designed for a cozy time...
The view from the "Monkey Bridge" of the Šventoji River, which flows through the northwest of Latvia and southwest of Lithuania before emptying into the sea...
The sculpture composition "Fisherman's Daughters" is the main symbol of Šventoji...

   The old Šventoji pier...
One of the main features of this place is the sandy dunes, called "kopos" in Lithuanian...
The path to the sea was paved with boardwalks that harmoniously cut through the sandy dunes...

The beach is simply stunning in its vastness... a little Lithuanian desert...

Lifeguard stations on the shore display air and water temperatures and wave heights...
We enjoyed the waves almost every day, adding extra fun to our swimming as we tried to "catch" as many big waves as possible...

When we wanted more warmth, we climbed into the dunes ("kopos")... Here, in the depressions, we could completely hide from the wind and watch the sea...

And in the evening, a beautiful sunset awaited us on the beach...

The road from our cottage to the sea passed through very picturesque streets...

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Star of the Sea, with its distinctive shape, could be seen from almost anywhere in the village...
Strolling through the streets of Šventoji...

In cafes, we exclusively ate Lithuanian dishes. The main one almost always was Lithuanian cold beet soup—"Šaltibarščiai"...
  We also tried "Kugelis"...
   ...many times "Cepelinai"
We also tasted very delicious smoked fish, whose name I forgot, but it was definitely not flounder ...
On our last evening at the sea, the sky was completely covered with gray clouds, but we still caught glimpses of the sunset...

On our way back to Kaunas, we stopped by a nature reserve called "Olando Kepurė"...

This place features a cliff about 25 meters high, formed 12,000-15,000 years ago during the last glaciation of the Baltic Sea...
